Job Summary
Conduct animal restraint, triage incoming patients, and manage nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases with varying stability. Perform diagnostic imaging, radiographic positioning, and image capture while administering medications and managing anesthesia. Collect and analyze lab samples including blood, urine, and fecal specimens, and assist in surgical preparation. Communicate treatment plans effectively with clients and maintain accurate medical records. Work in a fast-paced urgent care environment from Thursday through Tuesday, 4:00 pm to 12:00 midnight, with availability for weekend shifts. Must withstand unpleasant odors, noises, and exposure to animal-related hazards.
Required Qualifications
- Previous ER / Urgent Care experience
- Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
- Availability to work some weekend shifts
- Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
- Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
- Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
- Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
- Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
- Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
- Must be able to withstand bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ year professional experience
- A Registered Veterinary Technician with an active license in MO
