Job Summary
Experienced Veterinary Assistant needed in Buford, GA for a general day practice. Responsibilities include assisting veterinarians in surgery and exams, handling client education, maintaining accurate records, performing in-house lab work, restraining animals, catheter placement, blood draws, and processing prescriptions. The role requires strong communication, organization, time-management, and a proactive approach to daily duties such as preparing for appointments, taking medical history, and supporting the team across a rotating Saturday schedule. Required Qualifications
- At least 1 full year of full-time experience as a veterinary assistant in a general practice, small animal veterinary hospital
- Ability to demonstrate restraining techniques, in-house laboratory skills, catheter placement, blood draws, ability to fill prescriptions
- Solid soft skills including effective communication with clients and team members, problem-solving, time-management, and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of preventative medications, medical terminology and calculations
- Willingness to take initiative and participate in daily appointment preparation, calls, scheduling, medical history collection, assisting veterinarians in surgery, exams, and diagnostics
- Positive attitude and ability to work as a respectful team member
