Job Summary
Assist veterinarians during examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments while preparing and maintaining surgical instruments using aseptic techniques. Safely restrain animals, monitor their health and behavior, and report any changes to the veterinary team. Administer medications and vaccinations as directed, provide basic grooming services, and maintain accurate medical records using veterinary terminology. Educate pet owners on animal care and post-operative instructions, and perform routine cleaning tasks to ensure a safe facility. Requires at least one year of experience and knowledge of veterinary critical care and intravenous catheterization.
Required Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience as a veterinary assistant or in a professional animal care setting
- Knowledge of veterinary critical care
- Knowledge of animal physiology
- Knowledge of dental terminology
- Knowledge of intravenous catheterization
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology
- Strong communication skills
