Job Summary
Experienced telecom lineman to perform overhead and underground low-voltage line construction and maintenance, including fiber optic and copper cable systems. Under a Line Foreman, install, maintain, and support telecom infrastructure throughout Hawaii. Responsibilities include operating construction equipment, driving commercial vehicles, loading/unloading materials, climbing poles, and working from aerial lift devices. Must demonstrate safety, teamwork, reliability, and quality workmanship, maintain logs of work performed, and interact professionally with customers and contractors. Travel within Hawaii and other U.S. locations as needed; overtime may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Ability to pass a background check, drug and alcohol screening, motor vehicle record review, and DOT physical examination
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to distinguish colors for cable identification and termination
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools
- Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight, weekend, and extended assignments throughout Hawaii, the Pacific Basin, Alaska, and other U.S. locations as required
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Lineman school certification (preferred)
- 1–3 years of structured cabling or telecom construction experience (preferred)
- Industry certifications (as applicable)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications (preferred)
- Knowledge of telecommunications and fiber optic installation practices (preferred)
- Familiarity with low-voltage overhead and underground construction techniques and standards (preferred)
- Basic math skills for field calculations
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and adapt to changing field conditions
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
- Ability to pass DOT physical and other regulatory requirements
