Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive care for complex neurological patients across neurosurgical, stroke, epilepsy monitoring, and general neuroscience populations. Manage telemetry, pulse oximetry, and cerebrospinal fluid drains while responding promptly to seizure events in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Develop individualized, culturally sensitive nursing plans of care and lead multidisciplinary team discussions to advance patient outcomes. Provide education to patients and families, mentor new team members, and participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives. Maintain strict adherence to accreditation standards and ethical practices throughout the 36-hour full-time shift.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an NLN accredited school/college of nursing
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher
- Current State of Illinois, Registered Professional Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR through American Heart Association
- Analytic ability (conceptual and quantitative)
- Oral, listening and written communication skills
- Strong human relation skills to interact effectively and collaborate with others in difficult situations
- Use of a keyboard to enter or retrieve data
- Assumes personal responsibility for meeting internal (i.e. Best People profile, ELMs, CPR, and health requirements) and external regulatory and accreditation requirements
