Job Summary
Join WSP as a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Experienced P&C Field Services Technician, where you will perform testing and commissioning tasks for Protection and Control systems in high voltage substations. Responsibilities include hands-on protective relay testing using specified relay test sets, documenting field activities, supporting field teams, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The role requires a high school diploma/equivalent, 7+ years of experience in the electrical testing field, expertise in protective relays, and proficiency with relevant testing standards and software. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in physically demanding outdoor conditions are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the electrical testing industry
- Demonstrable expertise on transmission, generation, and distribution relays
- Technical skills related to protective relays
- Proven experience with electrical field testing standards, practices, and procedures
- Demonstrable knowledge of testing electrical distribution, generation, and transmission projects
- Experience using technical software for testing purposes and data review
- Experience with reading and understanding electrical drawings
- Ability to identify routine field challenges
- Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Capability to support a wide variety of tasks in dynamic environments
- Commitment to continued learning and development in technical field services
- Reliable, punctual, independent or team player
- Must be willing to travel (up to 80%)
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Technology degree in a similar discipline
- Experience in testing and troubleshooting electromechanical relay
- Experience in testing and commissioning electrical equipment on high voltage substations such as CTs, CCVTs, PLC systems, and DC systems, including batteries and battery chargers
- Current OSHA 30-hour or 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
