Job Summary
Experienced K9 Handler to conduct screening operations for explosive detection with an Explosive Detection Canine, maintain administrative records, and provide care and welfare for assigned canines. Training location noted (Opelika, AL) with a 4-week course and potential pathway to direct hire based on certification. Requires US citizenship, TSA Security Threat Assessment and Pre-Check, High School Diploma or GED, valid Real ID driver's license, background checks, and ability to read/write English. Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills, independent work capability, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain professional relationships with colleagues and external agencies. Training benefits include tuition waiver with 1-year employment commitment, canine stipend and maintenance, full benefits package, 401k, and paid vacation.
Required Qualifications
- Possess over a year of on leash k9 detection work experience and provide certifications
- Be a citizen or national of the United States
- Able to pass the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment
- Have a high school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma
- Possess valid driver's license (Real ID) and reliable transportation
- Able to pass background check and drug screen
- Must be able to obtain a Known Traveler Number (TSA Pre-Check) through TSA
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
- Can read, write, and understand English well enough to carry out written and oral instructions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Exercise sound judgment in all areas of responsibility
- Maintain effective professional relationships with employees and outside individuals and agencies
- Ability to understand and successfully handle various operational issues
