Job Summary
Perform maintenance activities on new and rebuilt/repaired equipment, services, and maintains equipment sold or owned by the company. Remove, disassemble, assemble, and install components; test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems. Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions, make repair recommendations, and order replacement parts. Clean, repair, and recondition equipment while preparing accurate inspection, appraisal, and service reports. Communicate effectively with Service Writers, Shop Coordinators, and Managers to ensure repair status is understood and followed up. Provide direction, training, and mentoring to assigned service technicians.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 4+ years experience working on Caterpillar equipment OR 4+ years heavy equipment, engine, or electric power generation system repair (EX: Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, etc.)
- 1+ years administrative/clerical experience
- 3+ years customer service experience
- Graduation from an accredited technical school in diesel engine or earthmoving repair
- Safety Knowledge
- Reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
- Caterpillar Product Knowledge
- Basic ability to search for and enter data into a computer
- Ability to type service reports
- Must be able to lift 96 pounds or more
- Must be able to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited technical school in diesel engine or earthmoving repair preferred
