Job Summary
Install and service overhead doors, docks, dock levelers, springs, and cables while setting up and maintaining commercial and industrial specialty equipment. Meticulously check for proper installation, clearance, and balance to ensure quality, then deliver customer service and respond to inquiries. Read technical documents, write job notes and service tickets, and communicate effectively with customers and vendors. Maintain a clean driving record while operating a company vehicle, regularly lifting up to 100 pounds in outdoor and warehouse environments.
Required Qualifications
- one or more years of experience installing and/or servicing commercial and industrial overhead doors and docks
- knowledge in hand and power tools
- mechanical aptitude that enables you to troubleshoot and solve technical challenges
- ability to be a team player who can also work independently
- strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with colleagues and customers
- valid driver's license
- clean driving record
- ability to regularly lift anywhere between 50-100 lbs
- ability to read and interpret technical documents such as product manuals, installation guides, instruction books, safety information, drawings, prints, schematics, diagrams, and troubleshooting guides
- ability to write accurate, complete, and neat job notes, service tickets, work summaries, and other records and documentation
- ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, third-party experts, and co-workers
- strong basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals) and ability to effectively read and utilize a tape measure
- ability to think methodically and apply a logical step-by-step approach to work
- ability to solve practical problems and deal with many different variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- willingness and ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
- ability to regularly talk or hear
