Job Summary
Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in commercial buildings, office spaces, retail locations, and mobile home parks in accordance with local, state, and national codes. Read blueprints and schematics to diagnose system issues, service panels, lighting, transformers, and power distribution systems, and perform routine inspections to ensure safety. Lead a crew of helpers to delegate tasks efficiently while completing accurate documentation of all work performed. Operate hand and power tools safely, maintain equipment, and follow strict safety protocols and PPE requirements. Work independently and as part of a team with project managers and superintendents to meet project schedules, often requiring overtime, weekends, and travel. Perform manual labor involving lifting up to 100 lbs and working in varied terrain, all weather conditions, and around heavy machinery.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid state Journeyman or Master Electrician License
- 3+ years of experience in commercial electrical work
- Strong knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) and local building codes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams
- Proficient in using hand and power tools related to electrical work
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 lbs, with or without assistance
- Ability to stand, walk, and work 8–12 hours per day on varied terrain (indoors, outdoors, heights, and construction sites)
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, twist, reach, climb, and balance
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and dust
- Ability to see, hear, and respond to job site hazards, alarms, radios, and verbal instructions
- Ability to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and travel as required by project schedules
- Ability to maintain physical stamina for daily, repetitive manual labor
- Ability to perform all duties while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)
