Job Summary
Supervise and lead crews in the installation of underground utilities, including sewer, storm drain, and water lines. Operate heavy machinery such as trackhoes, dozers, and loaders while reading site plans and blueprints to ensure accurate work. Check grades and elevations to maintain project specifications, monitor crew performance, and train less experienced workers. Ensure safety, quality, and efficiency on the job site by communicating effectively with project managers and inspectors. Requires 5+ years of experience, proficiency in heavy equipment, and adherence to OSHA standards.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience installing sewer, storm drain, and water pipes in a civil construction setting
- Proficient in operating heavy machinery (trackhoe, dozer, loader)
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and check elevations accurately
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Commitment to job site safety and adherence to OSHA standards
- Valid driver's license
- Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery
- Excellent supervisory and leadership skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Proven experience as construction foreman
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSH guidelines
- Understanding of under-ground utilities and erosion control
- Aptitude in math
- Good physical condition and stamina
- High school diploma or diploma in a skilled trade (erosion control, pipe experience, civil construction)
- Proficient with Computers or related technology to complete reports, logs, and time management
- Civil Construction experience and knowledge in erosion control, sod, t-posts, and silt fence
Desired Qualifications
- CDL a plus
