Job Summary
Operate hemodialysis equipment according to prescribed protocols; monitor patients' vital signs and treatment progress; administer heparin as ordered; evaluate patient responses and report changes; provide emotional support to patients during dialysis; assist in maintenance and calibration of hemodialysis equipment; ensure infection control; document patient care activities in electronic medical records; participate in ongoing training; work as part of an interdisciplinary team to meet staffing requirements under state regulations; adhere to company policies and state/federal regulations; role involves a schedule of Monday-Saturday 5am-5pm, on-site at The Kidney Care Center in Hobbs, NM; requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment; color test strip interpretation is required; carries benefits including PTO, health coverage, and vaccine requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Certification as a Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) through a recognized national certification program
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in hemodialysis patient care
- Current BLS certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Must be able to accurately interpret color test strips
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
- Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions
