Job Summary
Diagnose and repair Subaru vehicles across engine, transmission, brake, electrical, and HVAC systems using OEM diagnostic platforms and procedures. Interpret fault codes, conduct road tests, and execute accurate repair plans while communicating findings to service advisors. Complete repair orders with precision, maintain a clean and safe workstation, and stay current on technical service bulletins and software updates. Perform test drives to validate diagnostic conclusions and confirm repair quality before vehicle return. This line-level role supports the transition from express to full diagnostic work within Swickard Auto Group's Santa Monica facility, offering a flat-rate structure that rewards speed and craftsmanship.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Physically capable of performing the demands of the role -- lifting, bending, and standing throughout the shift
- Proven background as an apprentice or express technician ready to take the next step into full line and diagnostic work
- Solid diagnostic foundation -- able to approach complex, multi-system problems with patience and process
- A craftsmanship mindset -- you take pride in every repair that leaves your bay
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years of Subaru dealership or Subaru-specific service experience strongly preferred
- ASE certifications recommended -- Subaru factory certifications a strong plus
- Comfortable with Subaru Select Monitor or equivalent diagnostic platforms
- Low comeback rate and a personal standard that doesn't require managing
