Experienced Asphalt Plant Operator

Job Summary
Operate, maintain, and repair equipment used to produce high-quality hot mix asphalt for paving operations under the direction of the Foreman. Monitor equipment flow, aggregate gradations, and moisture contents to ensure consistent, in-spec materials, while loading trucks for distribution. Perform maintenance tasks including replacing wear components, cutting, welding, and fabricating, and operate skid steer loaders and front-end loaders. Work on elevated platforms and in confined spaces to maintain a safe, clean site. Requires 5+ years of relevant experience, a valid driver's license, and ability to work varied hours including nights, weekends, and variable weather. Union membership is required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
- Must be punctual and dependable
- Capacity to tolerate and work in variable weather conditions, and work in dirty and dusty environments
- Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated platforms, including heights over 50'
- Member of the appropriate trade union or willingness to become a union member
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Mechanical/Fabricating and repair experience
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Successfully pass aptitude tests
- Prior experience and/or education in a related field
- Willingness to learn new tasks, do different tasks throughout the day and be a team player
