Job Summary
Conduct close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures and fracture areas for B-52 aircraft. Locate blind holes for new structural items, interpret engineering drawings and technical orders to perform structural modifications and repairs. Operate manual, power-assisted, and power-operated machines to fabricate, construct, alter, and maintain tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures. Form bends on parts, scarf, blank, groove, and pierce metals for leading edges, flaps, rudders, skins, and cones. Perform first-level fabrication, maintenance, and storage of production tooling while adhering to DOD and manufacturer directives. Requires 10+ years of experience with non-porous metals, schematics, and heavy structures; ability to access wing fuel tanks and work in confined spaces. Variable shifts, weekends, and holidays required to support mission requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience working with non-porous metals, such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless
- 10+ years of experience working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures
- 10+ years of experience using structures hand tools such as: drills 45 and 90 degrees, pancake adapters, counter sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns
- 10+ years of experience working heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking and fastening structures (doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.) to aircraft
- 10+ years of experience with aircraft sheet metal fabrication, maintenance and processes
- Ability to access/enter a wing fuel tank opening
- Ability to work in confined spaces for extended periods during shift
- Ability to work variable shifts (i.e. scheduled and unscheduled overtime; weekends and holidays) to support mission requirements and workload
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
- An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required
- This position requires the ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle
- U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Depot Level/Heavy Structures maintenance
- Experience with aircraft maintenance and operations
- Operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignment
