Job Summary
This role will support the Vision Science team by managing day-to-day lab operations, moderating human-subject research studies, and building rapid prototypes to enable experimental design, validation, and prototyping. It bridges research, engineering, and creative development to ensure studies run smoothly while translating vision science concepts into functional prototypes (e.g., in Lens Studio and related tools). Responsibilities include lab setup and maintenance, coordinating study logistics, moderating in-lab studies, ensuring data integrity, supporting experiment design and debugging, prototyping using Lens Studio/Unity, and collaborating across disciplines to translate research needs into practical implementations. Prototyping work includes implementing experimental stimuli, UI flows, and interactive behaviors; maintaining prototype codebases; and contributing to lab process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Earned Bachelor’s Degree (MA/PHD preferred) in a related field such as vision science, perception psychology, cognitive psychology, psychophysics, computer science, human-computer interaction.
- Experience with programming for VR/AR using applications like Lens Studio or Unity; Experience with object-oriented programming.
- Experience with Lens Studio or Unity; Experience with real-time/AR platforms.
- Experience with MATLAB or Python for data analysis; experience with JMP, R, MATLAB, or Python.
- Experience running experimental studies and with experiment development packages (e.g., PsychoPy, Psychtoolbox).
- Ability to build rapid prototypes and maintain prototype codebases.
- Ability to manage lab operations, participant scheduling, consent forms, and study documentation.
- Strong collaboration skills with researchers, engineers, and designers.
