Job Summary
Manage commodities and categories worldwide by developing category strategies, building supply bases, and negotiating contracts with complex suppliers. Lead a complex sub-category involving data analysis, supplier qualification, and quality process resolution to reduce supply costs and meet business specifications. Drive supply base optimization, develop financial models, and advise senior leaders on contract risks and mitigation strategies. Work with autonomy in a hybrid environment, reporting results to senior managers while managing day-to-day operations of major suppliers.
Required Qualifications
- First level university degree or equivalent experience
- 6-10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain function
- Advanced Japanese and English speaker
- Fluently communicate in both languages either verbally or in writing
- Experience negotiating commercial and contractual terms with suppliers
- Ability to analyze spend data, good with numbers, and persons that have the ability to understand cost components of a unit price
- Comfortable working in a virtual environment, interacting with team members, managers and stakeholders in different time zones
- Expectation to work with autonomy
- Rational and thoughtful decision making
- Ability to evaluate variables in a specific case, consider short term and long-term plans, and SWOT analysis
- Excellent understanding of global procurement processes, industry, and complex suppliers
- Excellent business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint) and supply chain modeling skills
- Ability to create a contract from standard company or customized contract templates with limited supervision
- Ability to apply cause and effect thinking to identify challenging contact risk areas
- Capable of drafting contract solutions in known contract risk areas to obtain acceptable outcomes with limited supervision
- Strong understanding of contracting principles
- Ability to close complex deals in a timely fashion
- Strong ability to develop suppliers strategically
- Must be available for average 2 days per week from an HPE office
