Job Summary
Engage customers in the Exploration Commons Makerspace and Teaching Kitchen by troubleshooting equipment, preparing and conducting instructional programming, and operating audiovisual gear. Assist with content creation to showcase resource applications, communicate library policies, and provide administrative support as needed. Maintain professional growth through participation in library teams, committees, outreach, and training activities. Work flexible day, evening, and weekend hours with an average of 9 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least one year of directly related experience with makerspace and commercial kitchen equipment
- Six months or more of customer service or retail experience
- Must be physically able to move throughout the building, lift up to 30 lbs., and push/pull a wheeled cart weighing up to 100 lbs., stand on ladders, and bend to floor
- Must be flexible to work day, evening and weekend hours
- Must be able to work in both the teaching kitchen and makerspace
- Ability to use clear, professional communication to create and tailor instructions based on individual needs and experience
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Must be a self-starter and motivated to learn new technologies
- Ability to learn kitchen and makerspace responsibilities and operate all EC equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Obtain Food Handler certification within the first six months of employment
- Associates degree or college coursework in a related field
- Instructional experience
