Job Summary

Expedition Leader in Morocco for Nat Hab's Terra & Tu itineraries, responsible for guiding multi-day, small-group cultural journeys and delivering engaging, interpretation-rich experiences for guests. Must reside in Morocco and be legally authorized to work there. Role emphasizes cultural interpretation, storytelling, safety, guest well-being, leadership, and collaboration with Journey Beyond Travel; requires fluency in Arabic and English, deep knowledge of Morocco’s heritage, and current first-aid and CPR certifications. Compensation includes gear, meals, transportation and lodging on assignment, plus development stipends and photography/marketing incentives. The position supports local communities by prioritizing regional hiring and requires availability across the 2027 season, with the ability to work long hours in demanding environments and to operate as part of a two-guide team when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional guiding experience leading multi-day, small-group tours in Morocco with extensive studies in cultural heritage, history, archaeology, tourism, or a related field
  • Fluency in Arabic and English
  • Demonstrated experience providing cultural interpretation and educational storytelling, including communicating regional history, traditions, cultural practices, and the relationship between people, place, and identity
  • Deep knowledge of and passion for the region's cultural heritage, including its history, traditions, local communities, and the ongoing efforts to preserve and celebrate cultural identity, heritage, and local ways of life
  • Ability to consistently deliver engaging, accurate, and compelling research-based educational interpretation in both formal presentations and informal field settings, going beyond introductory-level information
  • Strong customer service and group management skills with attention to individual guest needs, ensuring a high level of care while supporting guest preparedness
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and cohesive group environment
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to clearly inform diverse guests on safety, logistics, expectations, and interpretation, as well as communicate professionally and promptly with external partners and Nat Hab internal teams
  • Confident, calm problem-solver with sound judgment and the ability to make independent decisions in challenging, dynamic environments
  • Professional, proactive, organized, and solutions-oriented, with a high level of integrity, maturity, patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm
  • Required credentials and certifications (must be current and obtained before the start of the season):
  • Wilderness First Aid Certification or equivalent locally recognized outdoor first aid training (minimum 16 hours)
  • CPR Certification
  • Any licenses, permits, certifications, or accreditations required by Journey Beyond Travel and/or Moroccan law to legally guide Nat Hab trips in Morocco
  • Photography knowledge and experience providing photography instruction preferred
  • Operational availability for the 2027 operating season
  • Willingness to share accommodations and collaborate as part of a two-guide expedition team while supporting shared responsibilities related to guest experience, safety, and logistics
