Job Summary
Expediter serves as the critical operational bridge between kitchen and front-of-house, ensuring all dishes meet presentation, cleanliness, and garnishing standards before service. Acts as a communication hub to orchestrate ticket sequencing, monitor prep times, direct movement of food runners and staff at the expo window, maintain proper food temperature, inspect plates for quality, verify dietary modifications, and coordinate corrections with kitchen leadership. Maintains calm, organized demeanor in a fast-paced resort kitchen environment; may perform additional duties as needed. Role supports a new restaurant concept opening mid-August 2026 and requires some nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a high-volume restaurant environment, preferably in an elevated service role or a fast-paced window attendant position
- Thorough, comprehensive knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and proper plate presentation
- Deep menu mastery, including the ability to rapidly memorize and understand ingredients, preparations, allergens, and specific modifications
- Possession of, or the ability to quickly obtain, required local food handler certifications
- Clear, assertive, and respectful verbal communication skills to effectively direct both front-of-house and back-of-house teams
- Proven ability to maintain emotional control, focus, and a professional demeanor under intense, fast-paced, and high-pressure conditions
- Strong active listening skills to accurately capture and convey modifications or special guest requests between teams
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with the confidence to manage the flow of food runners and service staff
- Sufficient manual dexterity to precisely handle, prep, and apply delicate garnishes
- Strong visual acuity to inspect plates for cleanliness, presentation defects, and strict quality control standards
- High level of organizational skill and mental stamina to manage multiple moving parts, tickets, and tables simultaneously
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
- Reliability, punctuality, and professional communication skills are critical
- CPR and first aid certification a plus and/or willingness to be trained
- The position requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and procedures, and the capacity to communicate effectively and professionally
