Job Summary
Provide professional and technical support, advice, and analysis of interpretation exhibits and interpretive media for the Birmingham Civil Rights and Freedom Riders National Monuments. Manage exhibit and media project planning, including visitor services, thematic messaging, strategic partnerships, and platform delivery. Collaborate with park leadership, design firms, and stakeholders to ensure accurate content, community input, and proper artifact protection. Coordinate interpretive planning meetings, unveilings, and events while maintaining alignment with NPS policies and facility management systems.
Required Qualifications
- MA/MS Degree in Communications/Media; Community Engagement; Exhibit Planning/Design; History; Interpretation; Journalism; Museum/Cultural Studies
- minimum additional experience of 15 year(s) in Exhibit planning/design for museums or other cultural institutions
- Project management
- Facilitation, Partnership development/management
- Broad knowledge of and considerable experience in the use of all interpretive and education media
- knowledge of the roles of exhibits, publications, audiovisuals, and digital interpretation (i.e., augmented reality, distance learning, etc.) in conveying park themes and stories to diverse audiences without impairing park resources
- Experience required with Windows
- Experience required with MS Word

- Experience required with MS Teams
- Experience required with MS Outlook
- Experience required with MS SharePoint
