Job Summary
Oversee exhibition lifecycles from daily site inspections to strategic planning, prioritizing projects based on safety and guest impact. Implement proactive preventive maintenance for all technology systems using maintenance databases and resolve complex technical issues through digital fabrication and control system programming. Enforce rigorous safety protocols and ensure full compliance with state, federal, and building codes. Manage staff schedules and training while acting as a liaison between creative teams and internal departments to preserve artistic intent. This full-time role requires a flexible schedule covering evenings, holidays, weekends, or overnight shifts, with occasional travel. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in technical direction or themed entertainment.
Required Qualifications
- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in technical direction, themed entertainment, engineering, or related fields
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Proven track record in technical leadership, design-to-fabrication workflows, and managing multiple projects in guest-facing/immersive environments
- Advanced knowledge of theatrical systems (lighting, A/V, data backbones, IT infrastructure) and creative programming (e.g., TouchDesigner, Max/MSP, Python, C++)
- Experience troubleshooting Q-SYS control systems and embedded systems (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi)
- Proficiency in multifaceted fabrication (wood, metal, welding), rigging, fall protection, and CAD/Sketchup drafting
- Knowledge of low-voltage electronics
- Ability to walk, stand, take stairs/slides/elevators, and navigate the elements during the day and night
- Ability to remain in a sitting or standing position for prolonged periods
- Repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Ability to cover evening shifts, holidays, weekends or overnight shifts, at times
- Supervisory responsibility
