Job Summary
Exhibit Technician role (Temporary/Seasonal) requiring hands-on fabrication and setup of exhibits. Responsibilities center on carpentry, concrete, drywall work to design specs; proficient use of major power tools; familiarity with low-voltage AV and basic electrical components is a plus. Must work well independently and collaboratively across departments and vendors, with emphasis on safety, guest experience, and exhibit deadlines. Availability includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime. Physical tasks include standing, bending, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, working at heights, and navigating wet/humid/noisy environments in museum/aquarium settings. Ideally pursuing or possessing education in construction trades, exhibit fabrication, industrial design, or related field; equal emphasis on hands-on experience.
Required Qualifications
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a trade school, technical program, or college degree in construction trades, exhibit or scenic fabrication, industrial design, or a related field.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of carpentry, concrete, drywall; ability to execute clean, finished work to design specifications.
- Working knowledge of large power tools and proficiency with small power tools, hand tools, and hardware.
- Familiarity with low-voltage AV equipment and basic electrical components is a plus.
- Ability to work independently with initiative and propose creative solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments and with outside vendors.
