Job Summary

Develop and implement exhibit projects at the Ohio History Center and Ohio Village, overseeing a collaborative development process from concept to installation. Articulate the vision for experiential direction while managing overall exhibit schedules and budgets. Serve as the primary advocate for the visitor experience, blending engaging activities with learning outcomes through work with interpretive and content specialists. Oversee production and installation of casework and environments, manage vendor contracts, and coordinate with collections staff, curators, and external partners. Design interactive elements and produce materials that communicate complex concepts to intended audiences. Manage project budgets, maintain records, and support facilities and architects during installation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree
  • 5-7 years' work in exhibit or interpretive experience development
  • Work experience in creating museum exhibits for cultural organizations, or customer-facing private sector
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts and data in unique and compressive methods to meet intended audience educational level
  • Ability to handle multiple
  • Through understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Sketchup, Revu, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read building plans and construction drawings
  • Ability to support and implement range of budget development and tracking
  • All prospective employees are required to undergo a fingerprint background check processed by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation & Identification (BCI)
  • Prospective employees will also submit to a drug test

Desired Qualifications

  • Proven experience in taking a program and/or project from concept to completion
  • Able to use project management processes
  • Experience leading teams of peers
  • Familiarity with hand and shop tools, as well as exhibit installation practices
  • Able to work well with facilities staff and architects
  • Able to create evaluations and use evaluation data for program improvement
  • Ability to communicate with staff and the public, both orally and in writing, and on behalf of a program
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to consider expenses and revenues in developing and managing program budgets
  • Proficiency in various office software suites, Adobe Creative suits and virtual platforms, including but not limited to Microsoft 365
  • Effective organizational skills, including attention to detail, prioritizing and managing multiple tasks for yourself, and being accountable to the organization for said tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with people of varied backgrounds, levels of education, and
  • Ability to design and refine a collaborative and representative exhibit development process for the organization
