Job Summary
Develop and evaluate the exercise component of the cardiac rehab program by reviewing patient history, nursing intake, and exercise history prior to goal setting. Calculate target heart range and risk stratification, then educate patients on self-monitoring techniques and rate of perceived exertion. Write exercise prescriptions based on clinic results and document responses including heart rate, ECG rhythm, and symptoms. Perform six-minute walk tests or submax exercise tolerance tests during initial evaluations and discharge, while updating Individualized Treatment Plans every 30 days. Act as a preceptor for new team members and site supervisor for the Clinic Student University Internship program.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science/ Exercise Physiology
- Minimum 2+ years previous experience in adult fitness and/or cardiac rehabilitation programs
- BLS Basic Life Support
- ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- ACLS or PALS required based on specialty assignment
- Clinical Specialty from accredited organization such as: ACSM Certification - American College of Sports Medicine or ASEP Certification - American Society of Exercise Physiologists
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Exercise Science/ Exercise Physiology
- ACLS or PALS (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
- ACSM Certification - American College of Sports Medicine (preferred)
- ASEP Certification - American Society of Exercise Physiologists (preferred)
- Experience in adult fitness and/or cardiac rehabilitation programs (preferred)
