Job Summary
Process exemptions daily by entering data into the system and managing related correspondence. Update account changes by reviewing reports to apply exemption resets or remove expiring entries, and audit obituaries and death lists to modify account statuses. Serve as the initial customer contact at the front counter, switchboard, and via correspondence while utilizing GIS mapping to locate real property and navigating inquiry databases to explain account data. Enroll eligible taxpayers in deferral programs and distribute information to tax offices and attorneys. Route specialized inquiries to appropriate departments and assist team members with various daily tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent
- Must earn an acceptable score on the five skill tests: Numerical, Alphabetical, Name Checking, Number Checking, and Number Facility
- Possess knowledge of modern office practices, including working proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
- Demonstrate the ability to accept responsibility and adapt positively to changing situations
- Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, management, and the public
- Work effectively in a team environment
Desired Qualifications
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of property tax laws regarding exemption qualifications and amounts
