Job Summary
Executive Underwriter, Delegated Authority and Specialty Lines — lead underwriting initiatives for delegated authority, MGA partnerships, and single risk Specialty business in the US. Independently underwrite complex new and renewal business, assess risks using statements, exposure data, and market intelligence, and determine pricing, coverage structure, and risk appetite. Drive profitable growth, monitor portfolio performance with loss-ratio analysis and profitability reporting, and develop underwriting guidelines, growth strategies, and operational best practices. Collaborate with actuarial, claims, compliance, legal, finance, and reinsurance teams to optimize program performance; manage and strengthen MGA, broker, and agency relationships; organize launches of new Specialty segments; mentor underwriting staff and ensure regulatory compliance and governance. Prepare executive-level reports on portfolio health and strategic initiatives; stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and transformation initiatives to support data-driven decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of Commercial Insurance Underwriting experience with strong expertise in delegated authority, program business, or specialty insurance
- Advanced knowledge of Commercial Property & Casualty coverage forms, underwriting practices, and portfolio management
- Demonstrated ability to manage underwriting profitability and maintain accountability for portfolio performance
- Strong analytical, financial, and decision-making capabilities with proven underwriting judgment
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Experience collaborating across underwriting, claims, actuarial, legal, compliance, and reinsurance functions
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency in underwriting analytics, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools
- Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, ARM, or progress toward certification preferred
