Job Summary

Executive Secretary: Administrative role supporting executives at Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Responsibilities include maintaining complex calendars, arranging meetings, conferences, and travel; serving as liaison between the school system community and the executive office; prioritizing and managing the workflow; preparing letters, memoranda, instructions, and confidential information; maintaining filing systems and information requests; preparing well-written correspondence; overseeing telephone coverage; providing administrative support to executives; assisting in budget preparation; and performing other duties within the same classification. Requirements include High School Diploma or Equivalency, some college coursework in administrative support, and five years of diversified administrative/secretarial experience. Must have dictation skills, proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and desktop publishing; ability to exercise tact, discretion, and confidentiality; strong organizational and leadership abilities to coordinate schedules, logistics, and training of clerical staff. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) preferred, with a preemployment assessment for new hires. Lead Worker responsibilities include training and directing staff, maintaining production records, planning work, and providing feedback for performance assessments. Location is Annapolis, Maryland; standard office environment with moderate noise and typical indoor conditions. The role is Exempt and falls under Administrative and Office Support, Job Family.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required
  • Some College Level Courses specialized training in administrative support science acquired through business school or college required
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.
