Job Summary
Manage breaking news and ensure rapid airtime execution while monitoring control room operations during live broadcasts. Craft newscast look by collaborating with Creative Services and hold writing seminars to train new employees. Set coverage expectations through producer meetings and critiques, managing story count, placement, and repetition across all segments. Copy edit stories to align with research objectives and hold talent accountable for delivery standards. Innovate strategies for mobile and digital viewership by executing live-streaming plans and working with social media teams. Lead a team of producers, writers, and anchors while assisting with schedule establishment and goal setting.
Required Qualifications
- 5 or more years of newsroom experience
- Must be a quick leading innovator who can lead a team in a changing media environment
- Must understand and be able to execute on evolving digital platforms
- Must be a good teacher and leader
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Must be well read on current affairs and have a wide range of working knowledge and understanding of general interest subjects
- Must be able to understand research and execute on the findings
- Ability to work well with others and deal with employee issues appropriately
Desired Qualifications
- B.A. Degree in Journalism, Communications, or other field of study preferred
- Large market experience preferred
