Job Summary
Executive Manager Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for strategic and operational leadership of the organisation’s finance function, including governance, budgeting, forecasting, payroll oversight, audit coordination, funding acquittals, financial risk management, and long-term financial planning. The role partners with the CEO, Executive Team, Board and Finance Audit and Risk Management Committee to deliver robust financial stewardship, informed decision-making, and continuous improvement of financial systems, controls, policies and processes. Key focus areas include strategic financial leadership, governance and board support, financial management and compliance, business partnering and organisational support, systems and controls, and leadership and people management. The role supports not-for-profit organisational growth, grant compliance, and funding submissions, with a strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement, financial analysis, and culturally safe practice; the position is hybrid in a not-for-profit, family-violence sector context.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline, together with current CPA or CA accreditation.
- Significant senior leadership experience in finance and accounting, preferably within the not-for-profit, community services, or purpose-driven sectors.
- Demonstrated experience leading organisational budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management and long-term financial planning.
- Strong knowledge and experience in financial governance, internal controls, compliance, risk management and audit processes.
- Proven ability to provide strategic financial advice and translate complex financial information into meaningful insights for executive and non-financial stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing payroll, funding acquittals, grant compliance, and statutory financial obligations.
- Advanced financial modelling, analytical, and reporting capability, including high-level Excel skills.
- Strong experience developing and improving financial systems, policies, procedures and organisational processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams within a collaborative and values-driven environment.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills, with the ability to build trusted partnerships across all levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, drive continuous improvement, and operate effectively in complex and changing environments.
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft 365 and financial management systems such as MYOB AccountRight and Xero.
