Job Summary

Executive Director of Program Innovation Branch in the Alberta Advanced Education ministry leads strategic innovation initiatives across the post-secondary system. Responsible for providing leadership, support and strategic direction, design and implement strategy for AE's workforce planning, program approval, and the Campus Alberta Quality Council secretariat, and for managing all branch operations and resources to deliver ministry and government mandates. The role requires senior leadership, strong program implementation and project-management capabilities, and expert collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. A sophisticated ability to influence, political acumen, and experience addressing sensitive policy issues is essential, as is a track record of developing teams and cultivating a culture of change and service.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (required)
  • Significant experience in a senior leadership role
  • Experience in program implementation and/or project management
  • Stakeholder management in government or academic settings
  • Knowledge of post-secondary systems and relevant legislation/regulations
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to influence and address sensitive issues
  • Experience supporting and developing teams and fostering change
  • Master’s degree in political science, business administration or public policy would be asset (preferred)
