Job Summary
Develop and adopt ontologies to represent complex domains, evaluating industry standards like ISO 20022, OWL, RDF, and SKOS for firmwide integration. Engage domain experts, product owners, and engineers to assess use cases, requirements, and dependencies while providing expert input into the firmwide data strategy. Mentor fellow ontologists to ensure alignment with accepted practices and strategic initiatives, balancing timeliness with quality under tight deadlines. Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to senior audiences using precise terminology and relatable examples.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience developing and managing ontologies for real-world applications
- Expertise in Data and Financial service standards such as ISO 20022, OWL, RDF, SKOS, and SHACL
- Experience with ontology and taxonomy development process and tools (e.g., Protégé, TopBraid Composer, PoolParty, etc.)
- Structured thinker
- Effective communicator
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to crisply articulate complex technical concepts to senior audiences with poise and confidence
Desired Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in a field focused on ontology engineering, knowledge representation, or semantic technologies, such as Information Science, Library Science, Philosophy, Linguistics, or Computer Science
- Experience with Financial sector data standards and ontologies
- Experience with program management and collaborative development best practices
- Understanding of large-scale, distributed, end-to-end systems
- Knowledge of Data Governance and Data Management
- Contributions to the Ontology community, such as papers, conference presentations, industry standard contributions, or open source contributions (e.g., Github repos)
