Job Summary
Direct the district's technology services and comprehensive safety and security program, overseeing planning, implementation, and evaluation of all related systems, cybersecurity initiatives, and emergency management operations. Serve as a member of the Superintendent's Leadership Team, advising leadership on risk management and school safety while developing long-range strategic plans and recommending Board policies. Lead the Technology Governance and Planning Committees, manage departmental budgets, supervise assigned personnel, and ensure compliance with Texas Education Code, cybersecurity frameworks, and school safety standards. Coordinate cross-functional initiatives with law enforcement and community partners to maintain a secure learning environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience managing departmental budgets
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field
- Valid Texas Administrator Certificate
- FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications or ability to obtain
- Experience in a Texas public school district
- Knowledge of K–12 technology infrastructure, networking, enterprise systems, cloud services, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and instructional technology
- Knowledge of Texas Education Code, Texas Administrative Code, and Texas Education Agency requirements related to technology and school safety
- Knowledge of Texas School Safety Center standards, audits, and best practices
- Knowledge of emergency operations planning, continuity of operations, crisis management, behavioral threat assessment, and risk management
- Knowledge of data privacy requirements including FERPA, COPPA, CIPA, and other applicable laws
- Knowledge of budgeting, purchasing, contract administration, and project management
- Ability to develop and implement long-range strategic plans
- Ability to analyze complex issues and develop practical solutions
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to supervise, coach, evaluate, and develop professional and technical staff
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with district personnel, governmental agencies, law enforcement, and community partners
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in educational technology, information systems, school safety, emergency management, or a related field
