Job Summary
Executive Director of Pollution Control leads the City of Windsor’s Pollution Control Department, overseeing wastewater treatment, sewage collection, and related capital delivery. Responsible for budgeting, labour relations, regulatory compliance, safety programs, and interagency coordination; provides technical/administrative reviews of engineering drawings; ensures asset performance and long-term operation of treatment plants and collection systems; requires PE/CET credentials, MOE wastewater certificates, and strong leadership in a municipal environment.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Science or Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, Civil or similar) or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency with at least six (6) years of progressively responsible municipal or related experience in a technical/operations/Pollution Control environmental field; OR University Degree in Science or Engineering with at least eight (8) years of progressively responsible municipal or related experience; OR Community College diploma in Science or Engineering with over ten (10) years of progressively responsible municipal or related experience; Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET); Must hold or be able to acquire Ontario MOE Class IV Wastewater Treatment and/or Class III Wastewater Collection Certificates; PMP/MICA/designations are assets; Excellent verbal/written/interpersonal skills; Valid Class G Driver's Licence; Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations; Completion of Management Certificate Program; Supervisory/administrative experience in a union setting is an asset; Willingness to travel to off-site locations.
