Job Summary
Executive Director of Nursing (EDON) leads nursing leadership across multiple service-line centers within a large hospital system, guiding a team of nurse managers/directors and ensuring safe, high-quality care while managing a substantial budget. Responsibilities include setting strategic direction with hospital leadership, leading care-teaming redesign across 65+ primary care locations, overseeing clinical quality programs, acting as SME for ambulatory nursing policy, developing annual learning programs, and ensuring competency of licensed and unlicensed staff. The role emphasizes transformational leadership, safety culture, data-driven decision making, lean practices, and alignment with licensure, regulatory, and accreditation standards. Requires strong communication, collaboration with physicians and staff, and a focus on professional development and evidence-based practice.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Nursing
- Master's degree is required
- RN license in Georgia or privilege to practice in Georgia under eNLC
- BLS certification
- Current BLS card from American Heart Association on first day of employment
- National certification in nursing administration or clinical specialty preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 5 years of progressive operational leadership in a manager or director level role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and relationship-building
- Knowledge of healthcare financing and operations
- Leadership capable of change management and systems thinking
- Ability to mentor leaders and staff
- Experience with data and technology to support decision making
- Knowledge of risk management and regulatory/licensing requirements
- Commitment to shared governance and evidence-based practice
