Job Summary
Executive Director, Labor Counsel responsible for developing the Police Department's legal strategy on grievances, disciplinary hearings, arbitration, improper practice petitions, and other litigation; serves as the chief labor-law advisor to the Deputy Commissioner; provides legal advice on labor and employment issues, contracts, and regulations; manages employee grievances and civilian disciplinary matters, supervises Step II hearings, and represents the Department in labor-management meetings and collective bargaining.
Required Qualifications
- Admission to the New York State Bar; four years of legal experience after admission; eighteen months in supervision of other attorneys; administrative/managerial/executive capacity or highly complex legal work.
