Executive Director, Evidence Synthesis & Statistics

Job Summary

Lead and grow RTI-HS's Evidence Synthesis & Statistics capability, establishing a market-leading practice focused on evidence generation, advanced analytics, and decision support. Provide technical leadership and hands-on methodological input for complex analytical work involving Bayesian methods, causal inference, network meta-analysis, and simulated treatment comparisons. Serve as a senior scientific advisor to pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients on evidence synthesis methodologies while driving innovation in methods and adoption of emerging technologies. Build, mentor, and coach a high-performing team of statisticians, overseeing project delivery to ensure scientific rigour, client satisfaction, and financial performance. Lead business development activities including proposal leadership, client presentations, and relationship management to expand the visibility of the ESS capability. Represent RTI-HS through conference presentations, publications, and active engagement with the research and HTA community. Offer flexible working arrangements based in Manchester, fully remote within the UK, or from European offices in Spain, Sweden, or France.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Masters, PhD, DrPH, ScD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent) in epidemiology, health economics, biostatistics, public health, pharmacy, or a related scientific discipline
  • Minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience
  • Significant relevant experience leading evidence synthesis activities within a pharmaceutical company, CRO, consulting organisation, or academic research environment
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing complex client engagements
  • Proven business development experience, including proposal leadership, client relationship management and revenue generation
  • Strong expertise across advanced statistical and evidence synthesis methodologies, including Bayesian approaches, network meta-analysis, other indirect treatment comparisons (e.g. MAIC), survival analysis and health utility analysis (e.g. EQ-5D), and their application within broader evidence generation strategies
  • Familiarity with emerging methods and approaches, such as target trial emulation and evolving evidence synthesis techniques
  • Advanced programming skills in R and/or STATA
  • Strong understanding of global HTA, payer, and evolving JCA evidence requirements, and the role of evidence synthesis across the product lifecycle
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage scientific, commercial and executive audiences

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with matching-adjusted indirect treatment comparisons (MAICs) and simulated treatment comparisons (STCs)
  • Experience with patient-reported outcomes analysis
  • Experience with mixed effects/hierarchical modeling
  • Experience with causal inference
  • Experience with evidence generation, advanced analytics, and decision support
  • Experience with evidence synthesis methodologies and evidence generation strategy
  • Experience with integrated evidence strategies aligning clinical development, HEOR, RWE, market access, and publication objectives
  • Experience driving innovation in methods, ensuring adoption of new and evolving approaches and continuous improvement in delivery
  • Experience with AI, automation, advanced analytics, and other emerging technologies
  • Experience with developing internal best practices, methodological guidance and reusable intellectual capital
