Job Summary
Executive Director of Operations for a 106-bed secure detention facility in New York City serving youth ages 16–17, with responsibility for day-to-day oversight of facility-wide operations and supervision of a team of Detention managers and Operations Managers. Key duties include directing Group Services operations 24/7, ensuring safe movement and scheduling of activities (education, programming, recreation, workforce development, and other pro-social activities), coordinating with Court Services and Admissions to ensure court appearances, ensuring correct incident reporting, working with ACS Police to classify and house youth, using statistical data and management indicators to develop and implement operational improvement plans, coordinating safety enhancements with divisional leadership, maintaining compliant staffing levels to minimize overtime, and co-facilitating internal Facility Level Disciplinary hearings.
Required Qualifications
- A master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and four years of full-time, paid professional experience in a child care institution or in group work with children in a child care setting, including two years in an administrative capacity; or
- A master's degree from an accredited college in sociology, psychology, education, public administration or a closely related field, and five years of full-time paid professional experience as described in "1" above including two years in an administrative capacity; or
- Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have two years of administrative experience in a child care setting.
