Job Summary
Lead the strategic direction and financial health of Four Winds * Westward Ho, implementing long-term plans while cultivating donor relationships to raise $500K annually. Oversee a year-round team of eight to ten staff, manage operational risks, and drive off-season revenue through new programs like sailing excursions and artist residencies. Partner with the Board on governance and capital campaigns, while maintaining enrollment pipelines and evolving camp offerings to honor traditions. Serve as a positive presence at summer camp and engage with the Orcas Island community throughout the year.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in a leadership position at a camp or educational setting
- Demonstrated track record managing teams, budgets, and organizational priorities
- Experience in a nonprofit setting working with a volunteer Board of Directors
- Ability to live onsite at camp on Orcas Island or in Western Washington year-round
- Ability to travel periodically throughout the West Coast for community events and to attend camp conferences
- Flexibility to work irregular hours
- Comfort navigating camp's varied terrain, including walking trails, docks, and waterfront areas, as well as occasional lifting and physical tasks
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with experience identifying and developing new revenue opportunities preferred
- Experience with event programming and property rentals is a plus
- Familiarity with camp management systems preferred
