Job Summary
Prepare and service various foods including pantry items, salads, soups, sauces, and pre-prepared ingredients for entrees. Train and manage kitchen personnel while supervising all culinary activities, estimating food consumption, and standardizing recipes to ensure consistent quality. Oversee special catering events, maintain strict health and safety standards, and ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance. Directly supervise staff regarding hiring, discipline, and performance reviews. Requires Serv Safe certification, 5+ years of experience, and ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Must have at least 5+ years of experience
- Serv Safe Certified
- Possess extensive understanding a professional kitchen use
- Ability to plan, organize and direct the activities of kitchen staff effectively
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
- Fundamental understanding of sanitation, cleanliness and personal hygiene
- Ability to work well in a fast paced high volume environment
- Attention to detail, ability to multi-task and time management skills
- Requires moderate physical efforts: standing, carrying, bending, stretching, stooping, pulling and pushing, lifting of weights up to 50 pounds
- Must be willing to work weekdays, weekends and/or holidays
- Must be able to comply with department's dress code
- Must be able to ensure proper safety and sanitation in kitchen
- Must be able to maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene
- Must be able to ensure safety regulations, reports injuries and prevent unsafe conditions and work practices
- Must be able to ensure proper use of equipment operation/maintenance
- Must be able to directly supervise kitchen personnel with responsibility for hiring, discipline, performance reviews and initiating pay increases
- Must be able to attend in-service training and education sessions as assigned
- Must be able to perform additional responsibilities as requested by the General Manager
