Job Summary
Executive Chef for SkyChefs’ Austin, TX operation leads a large-scale, high-volume culinary operation serving thousands of travelers daily. The role emphasizes operational excellence, consistency at scale, process optimization, and team leadership. Responsibilities include overseeing all food production, ensuring recipe and menu compliance, managing costs and budgets, training kitchen staff, coordinating with external stakeholders, maintaining HACCP and food-safety standards, participating in menu development and marketing activities, and driving quality and safety initiatives in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7 years of progressive commercial cooking experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity
- Culinary school apprenticeship or formal certification preferred
- Additional specialized certifications (e.g., Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Executive Chef, Industrial/Production Chef) or equivalent hands-on experience in high-volume or regulated environments preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance requirements (HACCP, FDA Food Code, local/state health dept regulations) and ability to implement and train staff on these programs
- Strong financial and operational acumen (budgeting, food cost control, labor management, inventory systems, waste reduction)
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) highly preferred
- Experience in a unionized environment preferred but not required
