Job Summary
Develop Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) by determining present levels of performance, setting measurable annual goals, and selecting appropriate accommodations. Collect and monitor student performance data to adjust instruction and report progress toward goals. Collaborate with general education teachers and service providers to design specially designed instruction and facilitate IEP meetings with parents. Participate in eligibility determinations, manifestation determinations, and Functional Behavioral Assessments. Plan and deliver differentiated instruction that helps students with disabilities master state standards while maintaining a safe, orderly learning environment. Coordinate paraprofessional schedules, establish transition plans, and administer state assessments with proper security. Maintain accurate records, enforce school policies, and engage in ongoing professional development to support school improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution
- Valid Florida Educator's Certificate in Exceptional Student Education and Endorsement, as required
- Meet certification and highly qualified requirement for core content area(s), at appropriate level
- Ability to design and implement educational services for exceptional students
- Knowledge of prescribed curriculum and research-based strategies for instructing students with varying learning abilities and styles
- Ability to use technology to support learning
- Ability to effectively assess levels of student achievement, analyze data and prescribe actions for improvement
- Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision, so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn
- Ability to provide specially designed instruction specific to IEP goals
- Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and implement all requirements for students with disabilities
