Job Summary
Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for a caseload of students, adapt lessons to meet their specific needs, and implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula. Assess student performance, track progress, and update IEPs throughout the year while teaching small groups in reading and math to academically at-risk learners. Collect and analyze data to drive effective decisions, facilitate Admission, Review, and Dismissal meetings, and prepare students for grade transitions and graduation. Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance, communicate progress with families weekly, and host tutoring sessions as assigned. Maintain a consistent behavior management system and participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, and before/after-school duties. Minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
- Experience in an Exceptional Student Education classroom setting
- valid state certification in Exceptional Student Education
- current GT endorsement or willingness to earn GT endorsement upon hire
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment
- Ability to facilitate Admission, Review and Dismissal meetings
- Strong family engagement and communication
- Record of results for students who are academically at risk
- Minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week
- Drug-Free Workplace Program compliance (drug testing prior to starting)
- Successful completion of a background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse
