Job Summary
Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students with intellectual, behavioral, and physical disabilities while developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Assess student performance, track progress, and update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect goals. Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance and facilitate weekly communication with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators regarding student advancement. Prepare students for grade transitions and post-graduation outcomes while managing behavior systems aligned with campus initiatives. Host tutoring sessions and participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, and before/after-school duties. Maintain a cooperative relationship with families and staff, utilizing technology to improve achievement and manage tasks. Collect and analyze data to maximize student achievement and adjust teaching plans accordingly.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
- Experience in an Exceptional Student Education classroom setting with students who have significant disabilities
- valid state certification in Exceptional Student Education and content
- current GT endorsement or willingness to earn GT endorsement upon hire
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment
- Ability to facilitate Admission, Review and Dismissal meetings
- Strong family engagement and communication
- Record of results for students who are academically at risk
- Minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week
- Must undergo drug testing prior to starting in their new role
- Successful completion of a background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse
