Job Summary

Plan, instruct, and organize instructional environments to support student learning and social development. Lead classrooms, establish safe and orderly settings, and use assessment data to evaluate progress and set goals. Develop rigorous literacy and math strategies aligned with Common Core while incorporating life skills and global awareness. Collaborate with regular education teachers to create individualized education programs and maintain compliant confidential records. Mentor colleagues, participate in school improvement plans, and advocate for positive changes in policies affecting student learning.

Required Qualifications

  • Must hold ot qualify to hold a NC Educators License
  • NC Educator License in Exceptional Children
  • Must be able to follow all Board Policies and procedures
  • Must be able to comply with instructions and/or directives from supervisor(s)
  • Must be able to establish a safe and order environment
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with school personnel to create a professional learning community
  • Must be able to analyze data
  • Must be able to develop goals and strategies through the school improvement plan
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues to mentor and support teachers to improve effectiveness
  • Must be able to advocate for positive change in policies and practices affecting student learning
  • Must be able to participate in the implementation of initiatives to improve education
  • Must demonstrate ethical principles
  • Must uphold the Code of Ethics and Standards for Professional Conduct
  • Must be able to align their instruction with the Common Core
  • Must be able to develop and apply strategies to make the curriculum rigorous and relevant
  • Must be able to develop literacy and math skills appropriate to specialty area
  • Must know subject beyond the content they teach
  • Must be able to promote global awareness and its relevance
  • Must be able to incorporate life skills, leadership, ethics, accountability, adaptability
  • Must be able to incorporate personal productivity, personal responsibility, people skills
  • Must be knowledgeable about special education policies and procedures
  • Must be able to collaborate with regular education teachers
  • Must be able to develop and follow IEP
  • Must be able to maintain compliant confidential records and paperwork
  • Must be able to collect ongoing assessment and data on individual student goals
  • Must be able to take responsibility for all student learning
  • Must be able to communicate vision to students
  • Must be able to use data to organize, plan & set goals
  • Must be able to use a variety of assessment data throughout the year to evaluate progress
  • Must be able to participate in decision-making structures
  • Must be able to contribute to the establishment of positive working conditions
