Job Summary
Provide individualized instruction and intervention for K–5 students with diverse learning needs through hands-on, student-centered experiences. Implement accommodations, modifications, and specialized strategies aligned with IEP requirements while developing, monitoring, and updating Individualized Education Programs. Establish measurable student goals based on assessment data, track progress, and adjust interventions accordingly. Maintain accurate documentation of service records, progress-monitoring data, and IEP paperwork in compliance with federal and state regulations. Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff to ensure inclusive learning opportunities and meaningful communication regarding student strengths and needs. Participate in grade-level meetings and IEP conferences to contribute to collaborative problem-solving.
Required Qualifications
- A valid North Carolina teaching license in Exceptional Children/Special Education
- Strong knowledge of special education practices, IEP development, accommodations, modifications, and progress monitoring
- A passion for working with elementary-aged students and supporting diverse learners
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
- Experience creating hands-on, interactive, and student-centered learning experiences
- Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with general education teachers and support staff
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly with IEP documentation, compliance, record-keeping, and deadlines
- The ability to establish clear, measurable student goals and use data to monitor and communicate progress
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A growth mindset and willingness to collaborate, learn, and continuously improve instructional practices
- The ability to build positive relationships and create a classroom environment where every student feels valued, supported, and capable of success
