Job Summary
Support students with disabilities in achieving educational goals by assisting the lead Exceptional Children’s Teacher, implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and adapting lessons to meet unique needs. Help with academic activities, monitor progress and behavior, implement behavior management strategies, assist with daily living skills (self-care, mobility, personal organization), prepare instructional materials, foster an inclusive and respectful classroom, collaborate with teachers, specialists, and parents to communicate progress, attend professional development, and contribute to a safe, orderly classroom during activities and transitions.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or 48 college credit hours
- Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities, is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children with exceptional needs
- Basic understanding of special education laws and practices is a plus
