Exceptional Children's Teacher Assistant

Job Summary
Assist the Exceptional Children’s Teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting lessons to meet students' unique needs. Support students in academic activities, provide guidance and encouragement, monitor and document progress, implement behavior management strategies, help prepare instructional materials, assist with daily living skills (self-care, mobility, personal organization), foster an inclusive classroom environment, collaborate with teachers, specialists, and parents to communicate progress, attend professional development, and ensure a safe environment during classroom and transitional activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or 48 college credit hours
- Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities, is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children with exceptional needs
- Basic understanding of special education laws and practices is a plus
