Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Exceptional Children's Teacher Assistant will assist in providing special education services to students with disabilities by implementing Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in various classroom settings, helping students develop academic, behavioral, and social skills. Responsibilities include working with individual or small groups of students, monitoring behavior and safety, participating in emergency drills, maintaining student records, supporting classroom activities, and assisting in maintaining ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Must meet federal NCLB requirements
- Associates Degree or 48 semester hours of higher education is required
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Basic computer program skills
- Must have or obtain a CDL shortly after becoming employed and maintain it throughout employment.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in a learning environment preferred.
