Exceptional Children’s Behavior Coach (Teacher)

Job Summary
Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), design and monitor individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and provide timely interventions, crisis de-escalation, and socioemotional support to students with exceptional needs. Deliver extensive on-site coaching to educators and paraprofessionals on classroom management and positive behavior supports within a STEM environment. Lead students in developing soft skills including critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration while developing and updating IEPs using diagnostic data. Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues regarding progress and needs, and submit accurate data reports to ensure program compliance. Operate Monday through Friday with occasional evening and weekend coverage, reporting to the EC Director.
Required Qualifications
- Strong foundational knowledge of behavior analysis, positive behavior interventions and supports, and crisis de-escalation strategies
- Knowledge of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences on student success
- Ability to work effectively in a collegial, team-centered environment
- Intrinsically motivated and dedicated to continuous professional and personal growth
- Ability to effectively engage parents and community in the learning process
- Represent the school positively in the community
- Excellent organizational skills and communication skills, both written and oral
- Understand the critical nature of building positive working relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to leverage technologies to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
- Knowledge of NCSIS and ECATS
- Considerable knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheets, and databases
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies and procedures regarding exceptional children
- Considerable knowledge of the ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations
- Considerable knowledge of the current literature, trends, and developments in the field of exceptional children's education and federal programs
- Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and statistics, and to develop meaningful reports from that information
- Current NC Professional Educator's License containing one or more areas of special education
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a concentration in education or a related field
- At least 1 year of experience teaching students with special needs
- Possession of a valid NC driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred
